Baseball is a bat and ball game. The objective of the game is to get to the home base without any strikes.

Age Groups

Each division of baseball is made up of different age groups. When playing in leagues, the starting age is 8 years and goes up to 14; however, this may vary. If parents want, they can make their child play from the age of 4.

Baseball is a team sport. It is played in 2 teams of 9 players. Each team bats and fields, until one of them is declared the winner.

Health Benefits of Baseball for Kids

Baseball is a great cardiovascular activity as it allows the lungs and heart to strengthen. Throwing the ball, batting, and catching allow the arms to be stronger as well. Due to the running, the hamstrings, quad muscles, glutes, and quadriceps also become stronger. The child develops a good hand to eye coordination. This sport allows the participants to burn calories faster.

Children that are involved in this sport develop better mental focus, concentration, feel less stressed and have a fresher mind to begin with. Taking part in this sport also allows the child to face lesser health issues. This game encourages kids to make split second decisions which sharpens their mind.

Equipment Needed for Baseball

The equipment needed for playing this sport include:

  • A bat
  • Balls
  • Gloves
  • Protective cup
  • Helmet
  • Catcher’s equipment (helmet, body protection, face guards)

This sport cannot be played at home as it requires a big field.

The general cost is $80 per month, and prices may vary according to the number of kids participating in each group.

This sport is good for kids as it allows them to develop a sense of self and how to work in a team.
