I was picking up my kids yesterday and I found myself with that sinking feeling of dejavu. I had just asked one of our kids, Cookie Monster, how her day was. The reply back was a low tone non-enthusiastic “Good.” For the last three weeks, I have been telling her that it is polite to ask the person the same or similar question when asked. She is nine years old now, and I really want to give her the best foundation for dealing with life and the people she will encounter.
As frustrating it can be to teach manners, I was given a renewed feeling. I turned the corner in the hall, and saw an open door to one of the elementary school classes. It warmed my heart and made me feel better about my repeated conversation. I was happy to see that there was something other than Common Core. There was Common Sense and good manners being instilled in our youth.
- Say Please & Thank You!
- Walk, Don’t Run
- Be Kind
- Work Hard
- Be A Friend
- Be Polite
On this teacher’s door was what I would describe as a seriously strong foundation on how to approach life. Kids that are lucky enough to go into that room day after day are being given the right push in life. I took a picture and felt the need to share it with you, our KidsWantMore.com membership and followers.
Please comment and share. If we had more of this in the world, it would be a better and more caring place.
Enjoy and Cheers,
